Jude Anthany Joseph's third feature, after Ohm Shanti Oshana and Oru Muthassi Gadha, released on Prime Video at midnight today. Jon Favreau's live action rendition of the 1994 classic animated film The Lion King is undoubtedly the most awaited films of the year. Favreau's phenomenal success with his 2016 live action Jungle Book is enough proof that the director-cum-actor can do justice to the classical film and it's remake. The makers released the second trailer of the upcoming film and the visuals teased in the trailer has got cinephiles all hyped up for The Lion King.
It's been hyped that the new Lion King will follow the same storyline as it's parent film. As given in the film's synopsis-
The film has a stellar cast to voice the iconic characters- Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Timon and Pumbaa. The cast is helmed by the likes of Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Beyonce and others. Hans Zimmer and Elton John have returned to recreate the musical extravaganza the audiences relished when they watched the original film. The visual effects crew that graphically generated the characters in Favreau's previous directorial venture, Jungle Book, also returns for this film. The Lion King is the one in the four live-action re-imaginings of their classic films in 2019. Dumbo, the live-action remake of the 1941 animated film, was released last month to mixed reviews. Aladdin and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil are the other two intended releases. Disney's attempts to remake it's iconic films still continue with more upcoming projects under the belt.
